Rain and Strawberries
Hi friends,
Just a quick update about the rain. We’ve gotten over 2 inches since Sunday. It’s been wet every day and the berries are showing signs. Ideally people would be coming through and harvesting some of these, but it appears picking strawberries in the rain isn’t high on many people’s list.
Last week I pulled buckets and buckets and buckets of rain damaged berries out of the field. It’s heartbreaking to throw away that much food. I really don’t want to do it again. I will do it if it’s my only option. Watch this video on youtube showing some examples of the berries.
If you have the desire and flexibility to pick and put up some berries this week, come on over to Heeks Farm. We’re planning on being open 9am-7pm on Wednesday, 9am-6pm on Thursday, and 8am-5pm on Saturday. As always, “Call before you come”. 919-627-2946
Your Farmer,
David Heeks
